* Tax rules differ by country, so enter your own effective rate (income tax + social contributions). For Azerbaijan, the dedicated calculator has the rates built in.
How to calculate net salary from gross
Net (take-home) pay is what's left after tax and deductions:
- Gross → Net: Net = Gross × (1 − rate ÷ 100)
- Net → Gross: Gross = Net ÷ (1 − rate ÷ 100)
Your “rate” is your combined effective deduction rate — income tax plus social/pension/health contributions in your country.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between gross and net salary?
Gross salary is your total pay before any tax or deductions. Net (take-home) salary is what remains after income tax and other deductions are subtracted.
How do I calculate net salary from gross?
Enter your gross amount and your total tax/deduction rate (%). Net = gross × (1 − rate). This calculator also reverses it: enter net to find the required gross.
Does this work for any country?
Yes. Because tax rates differ by country, you enter your own effective rate, so the calculator works globally. For Azerbaijan, use our dedicated AZ calculator with built-in rates.
